Not only is Renata a smart, knowledgeable, personable physical therapist who keeps up on the latest research, she actually goes into the operating room with various surgeons to see how they work. Thus, she can tailor rehab to specific procedures and surgical styles. The bonus with Renata is her assistant, Therese Owens. Therese really understands how the various exercises work and how to apply them. They are a dynamic physical therapy team and I am grateful for their expertise throughout my long recovery.
I have been a patient of Orthorehab Specialists off & on, mostly for a knee that has seen its share of surgeries and is now battling arthritis. Terry B and his team has done a great job keeping me up and running. The evaluations are precise and tracked every visit and the therapy stretching and exercises are kept simple. And they are nice people ... it sort of makes you 'want' to get healthy again. I highly recommend the Edina office.
For most of my adult life I struggled with severe debilitating headaches from years of poor posture and sitting at a desk. The headaches prevented me from enjoying life fully and limited my upper body activity. I had limited neck mobility and was on a very significant amount of pain medication when my neurologist referred me to OrthoRehab. I started with manual therapy by Lu Taragos to soften the muscles and tendons in my neck and head which significantly reduced my headaches. Then Rebecca Jacobs started me on a posture rehab program to realign and strengthen my body to prevent neck strain and consequently headaches caused by activity. Before therapy treatment, I had three to four debilitating headaches per week and today i am down to one headache every few weeks. It is amazing to wake up in the morning without a headache and not be dependent on pain medication. OrthoRehab has changed my life so I can be active again without pain in my retirement.
Living with pain and loss of normal function is exhausting over time. I had a two year run of bad health events, from a torn rotator cuff requiring surgery to cancer to a torn Achilles tendon. The team at OrthoRehab helped me to recover, faster and more completely than my experience with two other Physical Therapy clinics. In both cases, this was important to my physical and emotional health. The approach is far superior than what I have experienced elsewhere. Each visit, I was carefully evaluated, then a custom set of exercises was established for me at the point of healing and strength that I had reached at that moment in time. The exercises were more efficient to building healing and strength and a better fit for where I was on the recovery timeline that the standard cookie cutter approach at other clinics. I found this approach to be unique and very effective.
This, by far, is simply the best physical therapy one can get in the Twin Cities. The therapists, especially Terry Buisman, are not only hands-on, but spend a great deal of time diagnosing the root cause of a problem. Instead of just going to their file drawer for a picture of an exercise to take care of whatever ailment, they understand the underlying causes and how the individual uses their body. For every issue I've had over the years, I have insisted that my doctors write a prescription for OrthoRehab, and nowhere else.
