However, while I was doing PNBC twice a week, I did not just rely on this place alone to heal. I increased my intake of MAGNESIUM and ANTI INFLAMMATORY foods. By eating foods that are rich in magnesium, like cashews, spinach, bananas, and avocado, this helped with the nerve pain a lot faster and deal with the strength training I was doing at PNBC. I drank quite a bit of tea with ginger and turmeric to help with the inflammation too. By including magnesium in every meal, doing physical therapy, stretching 3 times a day, and going to the chiropractor and receiving electric stem therapy, this all helped me recover and get stronger. My physical therapists were surprised and impressed on how much I could push myself each week, and how fast I was healing. The secret was food.
-Some staff don’t seem too enthusiastic about their work
I lived with back pain for 16 years due to some accidents. After 12 weeks of training at PNBC I was stronger and much improved. I've now had a 6 month stretch without daily pain. No other PT I tried or chiropractic care came close to this impact. I send friends here all the time.
Cons
This program makes a lot of sense to me. I have only attended a few sessions, but feel stronger already even though I still have discomfort. I have found the physical therapist and the PT assistants knowledgeable and friendly. I am looking forward to improving the health of my back and developing some good habits along the way.
((This review is for PNBC and the people who need help))
Twice a week, I would go in, walk on the treadmill for 5-10 minutes, and then the PT's would bring me through a series of machines that had weights and had me do torso twists, crunches, arm pulls, and oblique crunches. And at the end you you would stretch out. Sometimes I would have the same person, sometimes it was someone different, it all depended on who was working at the time you go in. These guys gave me valuable information to take and incorporate into my life. From turning properly, to sitting up without straining my back, to carrying items to a shelf, and doing stretches, they gave me accurate techniques I could forever.
So despite that, this place DOES produce results. And more often then not, you will NOT need surgery. But they will only equip you with the information and the facility, the rest is up to YOU to take your health into your own hands. Ask questions. Research. Eat healthy. Exercise. And never give up. If you can afford to do this, please do so.
-Dr. Shawn, Nick, Brenda, Stephanie, Prachi, Marni, are the coolest people ever and fantastic to work with
-Physical Therapy is natural
(If you do decide to do this, make sure to ask LOTS of questions, it will make your experience more rich.)
I wish I had known about PNBC before having back surgery. I ended up suffering complications from surgery that resulted in chronic pain and nerve damage in my back and leg. A friend suggested that I try PNBC and I am so grateful that I took his advice. After going through the program, I am now virtually pain-free and back to my normal activities. The doctors, therapists and staff are excellent - I'd recommend this program in a heartbeat.
-Flexible hours/Sessions are approximately 45 minutes
-Communication could be improved.
-Billing office is brutal
-Cheaper than surgery
Pros
-There was a day where one of my Physical Therapists was not paying attention and wanted to rush my workout. I definitely felt cheated and my money wasted that day.
Good news! This place does help produce results!!!!
I did this for about 2 months, twice a week. This totaled to a little over $2300. The final day of my appointment I lost my health insurance, and was laid off from my job. It was bitter sweet. I was happy for all the help I received, and knew that I was far from being 100%. But I now was equipped to take what I learned and take the rest of my workouts into my own hands. And I did. I know there is an expectation of going to a place like this and thinking they will magically make you better, but what YOU put into it makes all the difference. So I would say overall the experience was worth it.
-Going here helped me walk again
-You get a cool t-shirt after you finish the program
every time i call this office, someone picks up and i am placed on hold. sometimes it's for over 5 minutes and if it's not that, i have to leave a VM which usually doen't get returned for several hours. They obviously need more staff of need someone to just answer phones. I was injured while doing PT here and no one seem concerned about that and had me continue doing a full work out until I was in so much pain I just stopped going
As of today, October 12th, 2017, my back pain is gone and I have resumed my normal life. I can jog, bike, and exercise. (Not too hard)
Mid 20’s Adult Recovering from Herniated Disc Experience:
Thank you Dr. Shawn and to my Physical Therapists for helping me through this process. I am forever grateful.
The biggest downfall though, was the whole payment situation. I told billing that I have no job to pay the max amount, and I would be happy to pay monthly but at a lower cost. Unsympathetically, they said I have to pay at least 20% every month or they can send collections after me. That equaled to about $400 a month I have to pay while being unemployed. They were not willing to work with any smaller amount at all and that really upset me and is currently extremely hard to meet those requirements... How do they expect people to pay all that in one go?
